TRE Group Sessions!

What:

TRE® refers to Tension, Stress, and Trauma Releasing Exercises. It is a collection of gentle exercises that aims to induce a natural, reflexive, muscular shaking or tremoring response to reduce muscular tensions relating to how stress, injuries, and traumas can be held in your body. With practice, your body can return towards a calmer, more balanced state of nervous system activity when the tremor mechanism is activated in a grounded and well-regulated manner.

With a growing body of research, TRE is showing to be a useful self-management technique for reducing the effects of stress on the body. Sessions can be provided in-person or online, with the end goal of having you feel comfortable implementing TRE as part of your self-management program at home! Read more about TRE on my blog

Group sessions can be a cost-effective way to have a TRE Provider help you explore your tremoring! It can also be beneficial to practice TRE in groups as it can be empowering to be around others exploring their own tremoring process.

The content/themes of these weekly classes will be tailored to the group of registrants each week and will be appropriate for both those new to TRE and those with more TRE experience.

Who: You! 
If you can think of a friend or family member that would benefit from learning and developing TRE as a skill please invite them to sign up as well!

In-person and Zoom sessions have a maximum of 6 individuals. If there is enough popularity then I will expand the size or look to add another weekly session!

When: 

  • In-person: Thursday afternoons (5-6pm) - Starting April 11, 2024

    • Weekly

  • Online: Thursday mornings (10:30-11:30am PST) - Starting April 18, 2024

    • Weekly

*Session admission will be first-come-first-serve. You can book ahead of time if you know your schedule.

**Cancellation policy: Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit takes the space that could have been filled by another patient. As such, we require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a cancellation fee (full session cost).

***Low numbers: If a session has fewer than 3 participants scheduled we reserve the right to cancel that week’s session and will inform you first thing Thursday mornings if the session will not run. Otherwise, sessions should be assumed to be running as normal.

Where: 
In-person:  Herald Street Health - We will be in the reception area with the blinds closed. This will be 'after hours' at the clinic so there won't be others around to interrupt our practice. I will look into another, larger, space for group sessions if our space doesn’t prove adequate.

Zoom: I will send out the link for my Zoom room prior to the session for registered participants. You can also contact Dale here to get the link

Investment: 
$30/session 

Receipts for each week's session will be issued after the session is completed. 
 
I do offer a sliding scale for those that are finding money to be tight in our near-recession economy - No questions asked. I want to make this treatment technique accessible to all that wish to participate. If you have the means to invest our recommended amount on the session please know that it will enable others that may not have the same means to participate!


*Extended health benefits: TRE Group sessions may be eligible to be billed under Physiotherapy services when provided by a Registered Physiotherapist (eg. Dale). Please note that not all extended health plans allow Physiotherapy coverage for Group sessions - it is recommended you contact your individual extended health provider to confirm as denied claims will require payment from the patient.

What to bring: 
Comfortable clothing similar to what you would wear to yoga or a light exercise class. 
 
*In-person: I will have an exercise mat for you but you are welcome to bring your own yoga mat if you would prefer. There will be a collection of props, such as pillows and yoga blocks to offer support, if needed.

*Zoom: You will be lying down on the floor so find somewhere convenient to lie down that I can see your whole body on camera. Please wear light coloured clothes so you are easier to see on camera!

Other:

If you have not had a previous appointment with me I will get in touch with you prior to the session for a short 1-on-1 appointment or quick phone/video consult prior to the session to make sure you’re appropriate to participate. Please email Dale for more details.
 
I have intake/consent forms, and questionnaires for everyone to fill out prior to their first session. I will send these via email a few days before the session. There will also be hard copies available (in-person) on the first night. 
 
If you would rather further your TRE practice with me 1-on-1 I am happy to help you deepen your own practice in-person or online over Zoom! Use the booking link in my email signature to find a time that works for you (60-minute appointment).

Future Sessions:


I plan to continue offering TRE group sessions, including specific introductory sessions, throughout the year (both in-person and online) so if you, or someone you know, would like to come but aren't available for these days/times rest assured there will be others. In fact, give me some feedback on day/time you are available and I will see if there's enough interest to run another weekly session.
